Brandt's Calf

Just as he did last year, Brandt LOVES going out to help with chores at my mom and dad's. As they started getting more and more calves and pointed out to him which ones were papa's or daddy's, he started asking which one was his. Well, not too long after that one of the mom's wouldn't take her calf, so they started to bottle feed it. Brandt gets to go out and help with at least one of the feedings each day usually and has claimed it as his.

Right after I took this picture the calf nudged him and he about fell over. He still talks about how the calf is too big for him and pushes him over. And then he sometimes adds that it pushed over mamaw, too. (not too sure that part really happened :)

The calf is now big enough that he's out in the corral. When Brandt goes out to help with mid-day chores my mom lets him and the calf play together in the corral. Brandt loves that the calf follows him all around and nudges and licks him. Brandt puts his arms around him and gives him loves and pets him. The other day he came home and was so excited to tell me that the calf had slobbered all over his coat and had started to get his face as well when "mamaw" stopped him. He constantly tells us that it's his calf and he's going to bring it home. I love that he gets to experience what were some of my favorite things growing up, but it's going to be a sad day when he has to say goodbye to it for good...
