I got to take Kylie with me to my hair appointment this morning, where Shahna gave her the special hair and nail treatment while we waited for my hair to color. Sis got a shampoo and trim on her hair, and then she got to have her nails painted. She grinned and giggled the whole time. Then it was off to school, where I spent the rest of the day with her. We had lunch at the Kindergarten table, where Brandt was happy to join us and entertain the surrounding little boys. Then we headed to the movie theater for The Peanuts Movie. I'm not sure how I could have forgotten just how loud and bumpy it can be in the back of a school bus, but I was quickly reminded. The movie was great and Kylie was thrilled to have me there with her. I'm so happy that my kids are at an age when they still like to be seen with me.

Last Day of Kindergarten May 25th
Princess Kylie usually has a hard time dragging out of bed (just like her mom) and today was no exception. Finally she got moving so I could fix her hair special for the last day of school. She only made me undo it and try again a couple times before she was satisfied lol. By the time I took her to grandma's so I could head to work, she was excited and ready to go. She is sad to be leaving Miss McMinn and Miss Paula Ward, but she is proud to be growing up and heading to 1st grade.
Bring a Friend to Dance Day
Kylie has absolutely loved dance this year! Today was her last and favorite day. Amanda Jean got to come try it out as her friend and then they had a pancake party at the end of class. This was also the first class I was able to go watch and I was so impressed by how much Kylie has improved. She smiled and had fun the entire time!! I love the confidence that it has helped her build and I'm excited to watch her again starting in the fall.

Kylie wrote most of her own talk for primary today. She did such a great job! She's come so far from the little girl last year who was still too scared to say a word once she got up in front of everyone. An added bonus was that Bryce came to church with us today so he got to go in and listen to her give it along with my parents and me. Bryce was asked to do the lesson in Elder's today and I was told afterward that he did a great job. It's something that terrifies him, so I was so proud of him for going through with it. Brandt decided that he didn't feel well when it was time for him to go to sharing time, so he went to Relief Society with me. We ended up having baby Tadyn back with us while grandma Sonja gave the lesson. It wasn't the best way to teach buddy that primary is more fun than relief society- he loved it! He's so good with babies! He and Kylie both want a baby in our family so much! Recently they were talking about adopting a baby since our friends Dallas and Jaci Keetch just adopted a baby girl, and I heard Brandt telling Kylie about how we would have to have a home study done. Since our house is too small and wouldn't pass they came up with a plan to have the home study done at grandma Ellen's and then we would just move back to our house once we got our baby. If only it were that easy lol.

Luke Wicket Ewok Skywalker Thompson
The newest member of our family is a cute little Shorkie (Shih Tzu yorkie) who was born on February 7th and came to live with us on April 7th. He came from a family in Randolph; his mom is a Shih Tzu and his dad is a Shorkie. He is the softest, sweetest, cutest little thing-with the sharpest little teeth. He is mostly for Kylie since Mollie is already mostly Brandt's, so she got the honor of naming him. She picked Luke and then Brandt helped with the middle names-Wicket Ewok Skywalker. They are obviously into Star Wars these days.

It doesn't matter how big she gets or how sassy and moody she acts, Kylie is still the most likely one to find her dad's soft side and wrap him around her little finger. Our family has been facing some tough trials lately, including Bryce being off work with some health problems during the last half of February and most of March. Thankfully he has been able to go back to work the last couple sets of shifts, but there have been days when he has had recurring symptoms such as headaches and dizziness. Today he drove part way to work and ended up coming back home and sleeping most of of the day to try to feel better. It's hard to be patient and be a parent when you don't feel well , so I was thankful to see him try tonight even though I knew he didn't feel well and really wasn't in the mood at all to deal with a cranky little girl who was up past her bedtime. When he had her go into our bed and cuddle with him, she calmed right down and went to sleep quickly. It melted my heart when I went in and found them snuggled up together holding hands and sound asleep.
Deathosaurus vs. Sparklesaurus
Brandt and Aden worked hard at creating a new dinosaur tonight. Apparently it's a Deathosaurus and it lived during the Jurassic period. It ate everything in its path except for paper, which was it's weakness. It survived until people were on the Earth. Kylie wanted to make it into a Sparklesaurus, but the boys vetoed that idea pretty fast lol. Fun times passing off cub scout requirements.
