Brandt-1st grader!

There was so much anxiety at our house involved with going to school  by the end of Kindergarten that I was a bit apprehensive about how buddy would do with going back for a full day.  It seems that all of our hard work at counseling is paying off in that aspect because Brandt was actually looking forward to going back and was even happy (and silly, of course) when it was time for the 1st day of school photo shoot.  He was so much more grown up this year and while he wanted me to take him the first day, he made me stay outside in the car while he went in himself.  He will have Mrs. Andersen again this year, and we are hoping for a great year!

Mercousins and Jailbirds

The kids and I had the funnest day at the beach with Quinn and Mal and kids.  We made Jolie and Allee into mermaids and Brandt into a merman.  Afterwards we got ice cream at the Bear Cave and had fun taking pictures.

Pugmire Reunion 2013

We were missing a lot of family members at the Pugmire reunion this year. My kids and I still had the best time, though!  Uncle Averill and Aunt Maurine were able to come from California and Uncle Junior, Aunt Nadine and Uncle Gloyd, and Uncle Jaren and Aunt Toni were all able to be here.  Sure makes me homesick for my grandparents and the other "greats" who have already passed on.  I'm hoping that we can continue to keep this tradition alive.

Driving without a License

When I was told that buddy was helping my dad haul hay while I was at work, I had NO idea just how much he was helping until I came home and saw it for myself.  Grandpa decided to teach him how to drive the tractor and then let him do it BY HIMSELF.  I guess he figured it was better to teach him how since he is obsessed with trying to drive and this way he would at least know the difference between forward and reverse as well as how to accelerate versus brake.  We try to always keep our keys either locked up or in our pocket and my dad and Bryce are careful to make sure that tractor, 4-wheeler, lawn mower, etc. keys are never left in the vehicles, but he's already pick-pocketed me and tried to drive my car more than once, so it's bound to happen again.  He was so proud of himself, especially when he got to take his sister for a short ride.  One thing that was a little funny, but speaks for his OCD nature, was that if he got outside of my dad's truck tracks at all, he would put it in reverse and then try it again until he matched the tires up perfectly.  It's hard to believe that he's old enough to help out like that already, but I guess that when I was his age I would help out by driving the truck so my grandpa or dad could feed hay off the back.  Although, I'm pretty sure they put it in gear and all I was responsible for was the steering part.  Brandt is already a lot smarter than that, which is a little scary, but I have to admit it makes me proud, too.

We love summer and we love hanging out with the Hillier's.  I took Brandt and Kylie along with DJ, Gabe, and Mariah to The Bear Cave for ice cream and they had a lot of fun playing on the hammock and on the grass.  I also took Kylie to the school in Paris to be screened for Head Start preschool.  For now she is on a waiting list, but she is pretty sure that she's going to be starting school at the same time as her brother. I can't believe she's big enough to even think about going to school, yet!
