We gave Brandt an ant farm kit for his birthday earlier this month, so this afternoon his dad took him out by our tree to hunt for a colony of ants. They found quite a few and got them settled into their new home. The kids have been having fun turning on the light in the bottom of the habitat and seeing the ants magnified on the ceiling. I'm not sure how long they will last, but I guess if this doesn't work we'll be starting over by ordering a "recommended" colony online. For now, we'll just enjoy it while it lasts-as long as they don't get out in my house...
